What customers say?

“ The most amazing local restaurant. We’ve eaten there on each of our 3 nights in Kanazawa. Staff actively engaged with us despite our speaking only about 5 Japanese words between us. The food was excellent and, we’d be back again tomorrow if we were staying another night. Best meal in a while in Japan! The photos do not show adequately just how good the food at Hana’s is. And nothing can show how helpful and thoughtful the boss (?Hana) is. ”

“ What an amazing meal! Truly hearty and filled with nutrients! A great way to get away from the constant Konbini food of our trip. It operates as a family run business and you can watch them cook these meals right in front of you. There about 6 tables that can seat 4 on their tatami mats and 8 seats at the bar. They give you a rainbow of side dishes that included different seasoned vegetables. I loved the food of course, we ordered chicken Katsu and beef Katsu with side salad substitute. One thing is that if there is a line, there is not a waiting list you can write your name on, you just monitor your own place in line. We came around 540pm and it was already full (they open at 5pm) so we had to wait for the first groups to leave. It is definitely worth it to come and very foreigner friendly with their English menu! ”

“ Visited this family-style restaurant on a Tuesday night around 6:30pm. We were lucky enough to get a seat at the counter straight away. The meals are a delicious set where you can choose the main dish. I had the karaage, my mother got the katsu. The service was friendly and felt homely. The meals came out quickly and it felt like eating Japanese home cooking. I would return! ”

“ A lovely experience. The vibe: We felt welcomed before we even stepped in the door with the sign out front inviting foreigners to try home cooked Japanese food. Inside, there seemed a good mix of regulars and visitors. The staff of the restaurant were kind, calm, and having a good time laughing and interacting with one another and patrons. The restaurant was clean and inviting- making all feel comfortable. We chose counter seating because Japanese hips are simply built different for tatami mat seating! The food: homestyle, comforting, tasty, and great value. We both ordered the chicken katsu meal set with furikake rice. We made an excellent choice! Thank you Kitchen Hana for a lovely meal and for the warmth of the restaurant you have built. ”

“ Great experience! One of the best dinners we had in Japan, well worth the waiting time and good value for money. Very tasteful food and the kindest people. Definitely highly recommended. Thank you Kitchen Hana! :) ”

“ I ate here in September 2025. It was delicious and the staff was very kind. It was reachable by foot from most hotels in the area under 15 min. I had to wait a little outside because the restaurant was full, not a big problem. ”

“ An enjoyable dinner venue with the family, sitting on tatami mats and enjoying a set including mackerel, miso, spicy agedashi tofu and some sake. Service a little slow, but this just added to the anticipation. We were not disappointed. ”

“ After a long day travelling from Shirahama by car then train. This was heaven, such a lovely meal made me fall in love with Japanese food all over again. If your around you need to visit here to believe. ”
